The Cantesanu Horns repair shop offers instrument customizations as well as general repairs including chemical cleaning, dent removal, screw bell conversion, lacquer stripping and other services.
Leadpipes
In all probability the most significant customization for any horn is a new leadpipe. The Cantesanu Horns shop offers an outstanding leadpipe -- available now for trial; this is the same one used for building the Model C horn. The leadpipe will fit most models of Geyer-style horns as well as others; it can be bent to perfectly fit your horn using a template or the instrument as a model.

House Specialty
The innovative customization of Yamaha 667 horns is a Cantesanu "house specialty." After years of improving the already good horn, Felix has arrived to a set of changes that will bring a Yamaha 667 to a truly astonishing result, immediately appreciated by any Yamaha 667 owner!
Yamaha 667 Customization Includes:
- New Cantesanu leadpipe installed
- Horn structure reconfigured
- Valves hand lapped
- Lacquer stripped
Detailed process:
- Leadpipe
The installation of a new Cantesanu leadpipe is the most important factor of the process. The leadpipe radically changes the way the horn plays; making all registers even and clear with enhanced sound, accuracy and intonation. Also, the Amado water-key that comes installed on the leadpipe is a better option than the conventional water-key.
- Structure
The horn structure is changed according to the "freestanding" concept. Braces are repositioned and/or removed and any tension in the construction released, giving the horn a more free and open feel (and look).
- Hand Lapping
Hand lapping of the valves is a must for newer Yamaha 667's, the action is greatly improved; a requisite for a satisfying horn.
- De-Lacquering
The lacquer inhibits the sound to some degree; all things equal, bare brass is more responsive and present sounding on any horn. Lacquer stripping is a direct customization that makes an appreciable difference on the 667. Most custom manufactured horns are not lacquered, and the customization process of any 667 should include this procedure.
