Active freelance hornist, Felix Cantesanu came the the U.S. from Romania in 2001 at the age of 23. Summer music studies brought him to discover and develop a deep admiration for the 'American' school of brass and horn playing. He remained in the U.S. to pursue his Masters Degree in Horn Performance and began to study with prominent horn players and educators. It was at the University of Alabama where he met his wife, Gabrielle, a Board Certified Music Therapist and also a horn player.
Prior to arriving in the United States, Felix held positions with orchestras including the
Oradea State Philharmonic and the
Cluj State Opera as Principal and Third Horn. As a regular extra, he worked with several other professional orchestras resulting in countless performances at home as well as numerous international tours taking him to countries throughout Europe and to Japan.
In the United States, Felix has continued to perform professionally -- with orchestras including the
National Symphony,
Baltimore Symphony,
Atlanta Symphony,
Richmond Symphony and
Memphis Symphony as well as regional orchestras and small ensembles across the country.

From the beginning, horn and brass instrument repair was a necessity for Felix -- making a better horn has been a life-long pursuit. His colleagues quickly saw his talent and many have come to entrust Felix first when it comes to their own repair and customization needs (The list of satisfied Cantesanu customers is growing every month). Now with years of experience, Felix has educated himself through real-world research and development. Living and working in Baltimore, Felix has
realized a dream with the opening of his own repair shop and with the completion of the first horn to bear his name in 2007. Read more about the horn here: [
