Materials
The brass tubing used to manufacture each Cantesanu horn is sourced by the highly regarded M/K Drawing Company in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The valve section is imported from Cantesanu Horns' manufacturing partner Glas GbR located in Markneukirchen, Germany -- the heart of one of Europe's oldest and most highly reputed brass instrument manufacturing regions. The valves feature a refined mechanical system with steel balls inside bronze bearings and articulated joints for fast, long lasting, quiet and smooth action. String linkage also available. The bell comes from Meinl of Germany and provides fantastic resonance, projection and color. Meinl bells are used by several leading custom horn manufacturers in the U.S. and around the world and are put to extraordinary use in the Cantesanu horn.

Great care has been taken to build a horn that looks and plays the part of a truly professional instrument -- a complete horn.

The Leadpipe
Being the most important component of the horn, a great deal of research has been conducted to build the leadpipe. The result of this extra effort is an outstanding leadpipe that is fast responding, provides great projection and plays evenly throughout all ranges without sacrificing the horn's rich, round and full resonating sound. The leadpipe along with the carefully assembled body of the horn, first branch and high quality bell make for a truly great sounding (and playing) horn.

Tube Design
All tube cutting, forming and bending for each Cantesanu horn is done in the shop; this includes bell-tail bending, allowing complete control for the overall shape and angle of the horn. The filler used for bending is a metal alloy with a low temperature melting point instead of the traditional pitch, providing better support for the tubing walls during the bending process as well as preventing re-annealing of the tubes after bending, a crucial detail for fast response and projection. All slide crooks and horn branches are shaped with a rounded "open & smooth" approach, providing the least resistance for air flow. The slides are precision cut and hand lapped to ensure a perfect fit on every slide.

Bracing
According to the "freestanding" construction, braces are installed at essential locations. Following the concept of design that gives the horn a compact, though open and light feel, the number of braces have been kept to a minimum while still providing a robust structure. The custom braces on the 1st and 3rd valve slides as well as the "C" braces supporting the main tuning slides enhance the horn's new, innovative look while providing necessary support for an overall sturdy design.
